Hello!
We used to use a handwritten piece of software that allowed us to calculate the elevations of EVCs, and BVC, through a set amount of stations.
Inputs were similar as follows:
1 Metric/ Imperial
2 Starting Station Chainage
3. Starting Station Elevation
4. % Start
5. % End
6. End Station Chainage
7. End Station Elevation
8. Station? ( As in Station Intervals 10m, 5m etc.)
9. Special Points? ( As in special chainages, for odd chainages such as CB's etc)
Program would then spit out the elevations along those chainages.
When corporate upgraded software, this program was lost and short of plotting it in autocad, I was hoping that there was a free program that did something similar, and was easy to use.
Thanks,
Steven Gill
I keep a Win98 computer in shape for using a DOS program that will make those computations and is great for COGO. Simply upload an ASCI file and it is ready to go.
Enter N,S,E and station of beginning point and of all the VC PI and length of VC and the same values of HC and it will give the location and grade of any station along the route.

The old Civil Tools DOS program did this and had a lot more modules.
I dunno what happened to it. I don't think it was free, though, seems like it was pirated on all the machines of the company that I worked for, or maybe they had a "house" license.
There may be a windows equivalent out there.

I loved that vertical curve routine. I would sit with my HP 41 nand input the data into CAD easier than the cluncky CAd programs did.
Sadly that HP 41 departed from my desk in an office where i was helping out on a project. Curses to that thief, I hope he understands the value that he got.
Is their a surveying module emulator program available for a PC?

I dunno if this is current, but they have emulators for various models of HP calculators.
