Just like me, my old Windows XP system is getting cranky.
All my "Problem Corner" and related problem data is on "Sight Survey" from Simplicity Systems on that computer.
Any suggestions how to preserve it by transferring to another program? Carlson? Anybody?
(I need to preserve it for my coming book.) I don't want to invest a fortune in more software, and I really liked "Sight Survey".
Bear in mind that I know less than nothing about Sight Survey but...
One simple option might be to
Put the hard drive from your computer into a USB enclosure.
Plug it into whatever new computer you get.
Trying using File Explorer to locate and the start the program.
If it doesn't work things can get fiddly - but often this actually works
I'm running an old copy of TrimMap this way

Dave:
Sight Survey 3.0 runs okay in Windows 7. Works just as well as it did in 98SE & XP. I assume that you purchased the "Unlock" program when Simplicity offered it several years ago. If not, contact Mark Floan at Carlson to see if you can still get it.
Clone your hard drive to another hard drive to use as backup.

Mark moved on from Carlson several years ago. About two weeks ago I was working with one of my clients and suggested he start working toward opening each of his SS3 projects and exporting each of them to the DXF. I believe SS3 also has (had) an Export to DWG option and the ability to send the point data out to a read-able TRN file that is essentially an equivalent to an ASCII file. I was going to try to publish a video showing a suggested procedure for how to move data out of SS3 but the video-splitting software has been giving me grief. If I can get it worked out, I'll try to re-post back here and also to the Carlson Knowledgebase.
