I've chosen RomanS for my font for most every drawing as it is easy to read.

In the settings and with the changing of properties, the width can be changed to enhance the aspect of the drawing.

@ladd-nelson so I sent a file via email to Carlsons. The reply I did get was that my points attributes are in txt style font and on the “standard” layer(somehow). So all the changing to the Ptxt font that hasn’t been making a different wasn’t going to work anyways. So how do I find the “layer” or window to change the point attb from being on standard to Ptxt?

@rotatenorth Depending on whether you're using the "text" approach (where the positions, layers, text styles, etc) of the various point "attributes" are set through the GIS/Note/Point Attribute Labels button for each code.

If you go the Attribute Block route (my personal preference since I know what is what in cluttered areas), the blocks previously cited can be customized but proper block protocol (e.g. once in a DWG, an initial block definition will be used until it's definition is redefined).

Also, the display of the font presumes the CAD engine can find the desired font on its support search path.

I hope this information helps.

@ladd-nelson understood. So now my question is regardless of the “font” style as PTXT or standard(in my cad according to Carlsons) where can I see find PTXT or the “layer” to change it to any named font? I can not delete the “standard” font because it’s in use however I can’t find where. I assume the support at Carlson will reply Monday. Not sure how else to explain my problem and I’m not sure it’s clear. Thanks again for the help.

@ladd-nelson I guess the best to phrase my question is, by default the point attributes are in a Ptxt named style or font. Somewhere along the way mine got changed and is under standard style of font, according to Carlsons. I sent them a Dwg. Where are they seeing that my point attributes are on standard? I can’t find that anywhere in points or utilities

This maybe wonƒ??t help, but try typing the word ƒ??styleƒ? at the command prompt?

@rotatenorth Hopefully the following clarifies what you might be dealing with:

  1. For each code, you have independent control whether to use the Attribute Block or Text approach (or both) to placing information associated with points-collected:
    2020 05 04 PTAttribs
  2. Presuming you are using the "Text" approach as previously cited, you can use the button highlighted above to expose the dialog box below:
    2020 05 04 PtAttribs2
  3. For each desired attribute, specify its relative position, layer, and (probably most importantly) CAD Text Style as highlighted above. Make your edits and save your library and see the results.
  4. To change the font associated with a named text style (and as @brad-ott correctly suggests), issue the STYLE command to set the desired font:
    2020 05 04 Style

I hope this information helps.

@ladd-nelson thank you again for your help, it appears there’s a more complicated issue. Tech-support looked at one of our DWG‘s and somehow or another our point attributes default to our standard font everywhere there is no PTXT. I did change the settings as you showed in your images but that did not stick as our template doesn’t recognize PTXT.  We do not know how the setting got changed but it appears we’re going to do a full reinstall and start over.

Or, just modify the template dwg file so that it does recognize PTXT?

@rotatenorth Text styles are "per DWG"-based and the default SURV.DWT template drawing does not ship with a PTXT text style defined in it (I merely pulled one of our sample drawings for the screen capture effect).

The SURV.DWT file can be found under your "%AppData%" -- Local -- Carlson Software -- Carlson Software [Ver] -- [RVer] -- [lang] -- Template folder, or, in the Drawing Template File Location as illustrated below:

2020 05 05 DWTPath

In my case (and for my Windows), this is/was:

C:UserslnelsonAppDataLocalCarlson SoftwareCarlson Survey 2020R2020enuTemplate

You could open the SURV.DWT file found in this folder, add and customize what ever text style names you want (and assign them what ever fonts you want) and then any subsequent drawings you create from that point forward from that DWT would have those styles in them. As a corollary, those same text styles could then be used with the field codes for Draw Field to Finish.

I hope this information helps.

@brad-ott tried that too. Says Ptxt is in Use and lists it as Ptxt(2). Although there is no Ptxt in the first place. Standard can’t be renamed. Standard can’t be deleted. So we named the pt attributes style ptab, changed the pt attributes to that. Still goes to the standard font.
