I've converted an XML file from my TS and converted it to a CSV and brought it into Excel. Unfortunately, the format is:
DDD.MMSS
I'm trying to write a formula that will mean two such numbers, like for example:
204.4745 and 204.4805
The mean would be (if left in the same format): 204.4755
Any ideas?
This links to a MS Excel 2010 spreadsheet with a DDD.MMSS to DD MM SS to Decimal Degrees to DD MM SS. If you would like for me to add a cell that goes back to DDD.MMSS let me know.
There is a surveyor add-in that I wrote for Excel that gives you the functionality of an old HP calculator for doing angles, polar and rectangular conversions etc.
Drop a note to the email address in my profile if you would like me to send you a copy.
Thanks very much!
Anytime.
Glad you chimed in Jim. I was thinking of your add-in but I'm not much for dropping names.
Aw shucks E, I didnt think I was so famous...
That add-in is Freeware - pass it around - you can give it to anyone who wants it. I wrote it simply for my own use, and it still seems to work, even on the latest versions of Excel.
Although do I see the documentation is a bit out of date. Maybe I need to dust it off and give it a wee polish.
I've used your thing at several places I've worked at.
I think we first met on the old POB forum. You sent me the stuff.
Worked like a champ for me.
Seems like I tweaked it bit and sent that back. I don't recall.
I don't have it on this machine. If you wouldn't mind sending it, that would be great.
E.
Happy to send a copy - but I'll need your address. Drop a line to the address on my profile and I'll send it
Message sent.
Thanks Mate!
