I am getting there, yippee!

Now when I launch Carlson (& some other programs too) I immediately get this Window that I have to OK past. When I click for more info, the info scares me from making any changes to the security level settings.

My question: is there some way I can tell Windows to always trust this Carlson program?

Thanks, Brad

Make the changes for when the notifications appear, I have mine completely turned off. Windows 7 is a very secure OS and along with a good virus protection software you will be fine.
You would really have to go out of your way (ie; clicking on links in websites and emails you are unfamiliar with) to compromise the integrity of your PC. I would also recommend using your work PC for work only. Playing games and messing around social sites will only increase your chances of letting in malicious software on the PC that you make a living with.

....Also

Taking a screen shot in Windows 7

Press [Prt Scr] = Print Screen key located to the right of the F12 key

Open Paint = Start > All Programs > Accessories > Paint

Press [Ctrl+V] = It will paste the shot of what your monitor was displaying when you hit [Prt Scr]

You can then use the select tool to crop out what you would like of the screen shot.
Save the picture in many different file types of your choosing.

It can save time rather then using a camera to grab a picture of your display.

Thanks Tbone

I made those changes to the notification settings. So far so good.

For some reason the PC would not do a screen shot of that particular error message, so I got out my handy iPhone instead.

Thanks again for all the tips!

Just another quick tip:

[PrtScn] + [Alt] = Screen shot of only the active window, ignores the rest of the screen.

Win 7 Pro (probably all 7 versions?) have a Snipping tool.

Not sure about Carlson but you also mention issues with other applications.
If you rightclick on the shortcut and 'Run as Administrator' it will ask if you want to continue and say Yes and generally that takes care of any issues like this.
You are supposed (so I'm told) to do that the first time you run some programs in Win 7 and previosly Vista.
I do it as a matter of course now the first time I install any new programs.

Obviously Internet protection programs affect but mine (Kaspersky) asks if I trust the program and just saying yes spells an end to any further hassles.

Not sure if thats any help?

Exen if a response may or may not directly "help" the original poster, there is a good chance that it will either help a lurker or a future beer legger that does a search of the site's archives.

Rock on fellow beer leggers!

Brad
I'm currently using XP and will soon be going to Win 7 Prof 64 bit. I have been using a program called MWSNAP for screen captures. It gives a much clearer capture than print screen. I did a little snooping and discovered the link below that indicates MWSNAP will work in Win 7. If you tryit let me know if it works. I'll be trying it when my new computer arrives. Here is the link:
