I've been using Magnet Office to create DTM's for machine control for a while and it works well. Lately I've been trying to do some work on building structures and it's not going so well.?ÿ

Does anyone have any experience with vertical surfaces in Magnet Office? I don't see any easy way to create vertical walls.

For example, I've got building footings that I need to set at the correct elevations. The designer didn't have any elevation data in the CAD file. This footing has vertical steps in certain locations. To create these steps, I've been creating two points at the "higher" elevation, then copying those points, pasting them in the same location and then setting the new points at the "lower" elevation. I've then got to go to the 3D view in order to create the linework between them. Is this how its supposed to be done? Seems awfully tedious to me.

Perhaps the Autodesk products would be better suited to buildings and Magnet Office for civil work? Any suggestions?

No, that is not the way it is supposed to be done.

What is your intent? Do you want 3d surface for an excavator, or 3d linework or both? Why work with points when you need lines? Would you ever consider formal training to learn the correct procedures?

There are tools to make this process much easier.
