LDT drawing size and how to reduce it?T

Lately when I start a new drawing my drawing have been getting huge, 3-5 or even 8 MB for a simple drawing that should not be over 300K completed. I start a drawing and then bring in a paper space template from another drawing and notice that the layers are slow to open and check the drawing size and note that the size may already be 1.5 megs before I even get started, I don't know if it is a build up from using some of the same drawing templates over and over. Could someone tell me what to look for or what is causing the size of the new to be so large? I have tried the purge command and it does not seem to change the size very much. What is the correct way to start a new drawing in LDT 2007 to be able to use a prototype? In the old days I would start a new drawing and use the = prototype and my drawing would start out like the prototype.TIAEdward L. Killough, NCPLS

I remember associative hatching used to swell the file size a lot so take a look for that too.
