I'm trying to load JAVA in Windows 7
(64bit) and it won't load, comes up with an error at the end.
Anyone have this happen or have any advice?
Thank you,
Forrest
What do you mean load Java? In any case, you need to use 32 bit JRE if you are using a web browser like Chrome, Firefox or 32bit Internet Explorer. You can use the 64 bit JRE if you are using Internet Explorer 64 (though I doubt anyone recommends this web browser for much of anything). Ideally, you should probably install both to cover all your bases since you didn't really explain what your problem is or what you are doing...

I'm trying to download the free 64 bit version of JAVA, and at the end of the download it kicks out an error and can't complete the download process.
I was wondering if anyone else had this happen and knew of a solution.
Thanks
From where, the webpage I linked for you to use above?
Using your site this is the error message I received:
THIS PACKEGE COULD NOT BE OPENED, VERIFY THAT THE PACKAGE EXISTS AND THAT YOU CAN ACCESS IT, OR CONTACT THE APPLICATION VENDER TO VERIFY THAT THIS IS A VALID WINDOWS INSTALLER PACKAGE.
Same messgage I got with the Free Download.
???
This installer works just fine for me (I just tested it on Windows 7 64 bit). Considering there are millions of people relying on it, the likely hood there is anything wrong with it is nil. Try to download it using a different web browser. I'll just assume your internet connection is fast and reliable...
Thanks Joe, but same problem with Chrome.
The md5 checksum for the file I downloaded is E653519DFCF3B861F20AEF00D34F477C
If you want to verify the integrity of your file, try to run it through a md5 check sum program and see if it matches. If it does, then it is something local to just your computer. If you can't google and find your error message (which I'll just assume you already did, and couldn't find anyone else with the same error) you have some sort of corruption (maybe virus or rootkit related, these like to screw with .exe file associations) or gross misconfiguration which is probably unsolvable by anything short of reformatting your computer and reinstalling windows. Just my professional opinion. Good luck.
thanks will let you know
