Yep, this isn't good. I use this extensively for making exhibits and whatnot.

Although, I've seen in many areas where the assessment parcels are shifted off of the ground image by a lot. It is only in a very few areas I've investigated it, but when it is off, it is very annoying to me.

Too bad, I was using it as well. Lines through houses just added some humor to my day

The parcel layers are freely available and you can make a KML/KMZ easy enough, so you can make them. When I tie into a subdivision, I will trim the parcel layer and the subdivision ties into the right spot. The image may or may not be in the right spot.

Most of what google gives you is free but repackaged. I have never found imagery that I cannot find for free elsewhere. I have found many of the traffic counts elsewhere for free. And demographic data is all over.

Not saying it is not a bummer; it's just not the end of the world.

I use the map itself and measuring tools and streetview.

The local counties have KMZ files that show boundaries.

Most of what they are not supporting, I do not use.

Maybe this is a good thing...taking this away from J.Q. Amateur cartargapher/GIS Tech/wanna-be surveyor.

Yeah, I won't miss having people say, "Oh, well Google Earth shows my boundary west of that fence"...
