The FEMA Map Service website wouldn't create a Firmette properly today. It just creates a complete Flood Plain Map instead of the zoomed in area. Is this an improvement FEMA has made. I tried Firefox, Chrome and Internet Explorer and got the same results.
I got a little 8-1/2 x 11 without any options offered two days ago.?ÿ It was pretty quick, though, compared to the old routine.?ÿ See attached PDF.
?ÿ
Can you print a zoomed in area?
?ÿ
No, no way to choose the zoom level.
If you download the FIRM panel, the entire thing downloads and you can then edit as desired.
?ÿ
Interesting, I thought the previous way of doing it was pretty handy... ??ÿ
I thought it was too. The new version leads you to believe it will print the zoomed in portion. I expect it's a flaw in the programming.
I make a copy using print screen. You can have a clear copy that way.
Note that Peter's FIRMette is using the National Flood Hazard Layer. To get a FIRMette using the 'current effective FIRM', navigate to the subject panel and 'view'. It should bring up the MAKE FIRMette tool.
I like using ARCView online ArcGIS?ÿ and downloading the most current aerials from the county.?ÿ Drop the FEMA maps over it and it's so much faster than making a firmette.?ÿ It also shows all the LOMR and LOMA's?ÿ ?ÿ Also dropped the NGS data there and a few other local goodies from the county GIS data.?ÿ?ÿ
An option I use frequently is FIRMette Desktop 3.2.6.?ÿ We don't have frequent updates on mapping, and keep copies of the maps we use the most on our in-house server.?ÿ That program will create the classic FIRMette easily, will fetch the map panel if you don't have it stored locally, and works if/when the FEMA site has issues.
Georeferenced FEMA map? I think I'll stick with trying to make a firmette.
