Read the article by Ray Carnes in Prof Surveyor April 2012. I went online to check it out. Pretty slick setup, found the NGS data and some high res imagery. Now for the questions:

Is anyone using this service for their historic project data?

If so, are you making that data available publicly?
it looks like you have to "share" if you want to be able to access it through a website portal..

If so, have you read the terms of service and are you worried about basically giving ESRI the right to copy and keep your data?

any other thoughts or comments about the service?

I could see some possibilities. Using the imagery
as a background can be impressive. For Florida,
historic GIS must be big because of their mines
and permitting requirements.
