Is this possible in Carlson? I have, say, a million points in the crd, but I don't want to clutter the dwg with all of them, and want only the points in a certain location to be brought in. And the points aren't in a particular range, group, etc - so I can't just specify the points that way.

Yes POINTS --> POINT GROUP MANAGER----> CREATE-----> Uncheck "include all" and check "point list", then select your method...say within circle.

Then POINTS ---> DRAW LOCATE POINTS ---> by point group.

If anyone from Carlson is reading this...would be nice to be able to do this directly from the draw locate points routine without having to actually create a point group.

imaudigger?

Try "Draw Points" pick "Within" "Distance" pick "Draw all" pick the "Point" and enter the "Distance".

Been around for many years.

You can also do "Within polyline" or "Within Coodinates".

Seldom use it, but fantastic when you need it.

Paul you are correct.
There are many many routines that I have yet to use in the Carlson suite.

Carlson has tons of neat and useful things. Finding them is the problem. They are not always where you expect to find them, and they are not always named in a manner that I would expect them to accomplish what I wanted based on their name. And then some I am just so used to doing it the hard way, it doesn't occur to me that Carlson might have an easier way.
