Do you know that when you EXPORT a Civil3d/AutoCAD drawing, it automatically converts the civil objects, such as points, to blocks?

Without having more information, I'm just guessing that this is what you're referring to. My $0.02.

I'm in the same boat. I've heard of SincPac and DotSoft but never used either of them because Civil3d does everything I need on a daily basis.

IMHO, useful "add-ons" to Civil 3D are what you get if you get Civil 3D through the AEC collection, which for example includes a lot of other software, like Revit and Recap. (I spat the dummy though when I found out you need to pay another $1000 for a module that dynamically links a Revit 3D model into Civil 3D - grrrrr).
