Has anyone tried to transform some points (but not all) within the DC itself??ÿ I've tried several times to move some "paper points" and nothing seems to happen.?ÿ It *says* it's moving them but when I check the coordinates, they are all still in the same place.
You are supposed to be able to rotate the points too but I haven't seen that work either.
Once I did a transformation and everything was just FUBAR.?ÿ The only time it worked and it went haywire.
If I want to adjust any points, I have to download the project and move them in my drafting program then load them back into the DC.
I don't know what's happening here.?ÿ Little help?
I often translate and rotate point subsets in my Surveyor+ without trouble.?ÿ Are you sure you have Overwrite Existing Point IDs checked??ÿ If you have one of the other boxes checked instead, the transformation will either show up as new points appended to the file, or as points stored in a separate file.
I did not have that box checked.?ÿ I'll try that and see if it works.
Thanks
I found another .crd file that has the changes in it.?ÿ I didn't know it did that.
If I 'overwrite' though, it changes the current .crd file??ÿ
I use the transform?ÿ and rotate frequently.... but I always overwrite the points coordinates
If I 'overwrite' though, it changes the current .crd file??ÿ
Yes.?ÿ It's a little unnerving -- if you make a mistake it can be challenging to straighten out -- but I'd rather not have any bogus coordinates in the file.

Until I was comfortable with it, I would export all to a text file for backup prior to transformations. Definitely saved me at least once.?ÿ
?ÿ
If things get sideways, just create a new job and import that text file to be in the pre-fubar condition.
Definitely saved me at least once.?ÿ
That's a good idea, and I've actually done it once or twice.?ÿ But being lazy by nature, I tend to just push the button while thinking, "What could possibly go wrong?".
?ÿ
I've never had any problems with it (except for when I screwed it up), but it is a little skeery if you ain't used to it.?ÿ The default is for all the points, too, gotta watch that.?ÿ
I always figure that I have the raw file to fall back on if I screw it up.?ÿ And, as others said, it's probably a good idea to back it up or save it as another job b4 pulling the trigger.?ÿ And, if I remember correctly, if you do screw it up, go to the procedure again, and there is a routine to undo the last transformation/ rotation.?ÿ
I tried it again.?ÿ Transform then rotate and it worked.?ÿ Not sure why I was having so much trouble getting it to update the screen.
I noticed though after I transformed, I reloaded the job and the points moved.
A major problem I had was that I just started moving things around and I lost track of what moved where. I had my original raw file already downloaded so I was able to recover and try again.
Thanks for the help.
