I am working on building a template for Carlson Survey 2015 OEM for our company.

I am using the NCS layering system for linework and symbols. I don't necessarily care if I am using NCS linetypes and NCS blocks.

I have noticed that the existing line types and symbol blocks in Carlson do not appear to have been created to work well together with LTSCALE of 1 and typical symbol sizes (0.08-0.12) used in survey drawings.

To add to my frustration the block editor ribbon in Carlson Survey 2015 OEM does not function.

Is it best to draw linework with F2F using the bylayer setting? Or is it better to set a custom ltscale for each line?

My goal is to have a drawing template and an *.fld file that will produce linework and symbol blocks that don't look like a complete mess (without multiple scaled linetypes).

If anybody has any suggestions on how to approach this I would love to get some advice.

Also despite editing the default scale list in the ACAD options I am only offered architectural scales when attempting to set the scale for a viewport. Does anybody have a fix?

I am working off of Ladd Nelson's IA Counties field to finish file and a NCS survey template supplied by Carlson. I am just starting to work through the template set up by setting field to finish parameters for features typical to water utilities (water valves, water meters, fire hydrants, water manholes, locate markings for underground water lines, etc.).

Thanks in advance.

Kevin,

"...the block editor ribbon in Carlson Survey 2015 OEM does not function."

A little more information please. What is it not doing that it should?

I have a template with blocks and linetypes that do function well together. I saved it as a dwg and then attempted to edit the block to save as to a location outside of this drawing so I can import it into my Carlson Symbol library. Every button I have tried on the block editor ribbon gives the following:

_BSAVEAS Unknown command "BSAVEAS". Press F1 for help.

_BSAVE Unknown command "BSAVE". Press F1 for help.

_btestblock Unknown command "BTESTBLOCK". Press F1 for help.

Kevin,

That's a head scratcher. Never heard of that one. Maybe someone will chime in with an answer.

Set the LTSCALE to 0.5 (1/2 the drawing scale) and assign layers in the F2F set up for all of your lines and symbols (don't forget to assign the point groups there too.) and all should be fine.
(AND the FIRST thing that I did when I got 2015 was to turn that dang ribbon stuff OFF!! I do not like the ribbon. It's another place to find SOME of the commands, but not all and it takes up too much real estate on my screen for little or no viable return.)

Kevin,

"...I am only offered architectural scales..."

Try SCALELISTEDIT >> Reset:
