I am trying to delineate my contour map
for slopes over 1:4 and 1:3 to meet the requirements of
a permit application.

I am using Carlson Survey 14, and have the Slope Analysis in the menu, but
I keep going in circles, since I have no idea how it works.

I need to hatch areas that are sloping above tolerance.

Has anyone accomplished this in Survey?

I found on some other forums the only person who replied said "Take the class"
in so many words.

Hoping I might find some of this forums users a little more helpful.

Here's where I'm at

Thanks

You are on the right track man

With Carlson, a little bit of a tip, use the external files that the program creates instead of the CAD entities whenever you have that option in the routines. That takes the CAD out the equation, as it uses the information from the external file.

So in this here case, the source of surface model is whatever file (*.tin) you created to get your contour map.

The rest, just follow the instructions as they come up for the slope zone analysis. It seems pretty straight forward, what exactly is the snag you are experiencing?

Is there a way to apply the zone marking to the drawing, or do I just get the report.
I am missing a step to add the hatching or what have you to the map?

Thanks

If you choose to draw Slope Zone Contours, once you save/print/close the report, the contour options dialog box should pop up where you can key in what you want to see.

I have never use this slope analysis command before, so I figure I'd do a bit of testing to help a guy out. If that dialog box does not come up, that could be the problem, does the contour options dialog box pop up? If it does, then you should figure it out by checking out the help literature. It isn't bad on this topic, helpful.
