Motherboard just fried on my CAD computer, so I am reloading everything I had on a new machine.
Trying to configure Carlson, and I don't know if it is iCad, or my graphics card, but when I issue some (not all) commands, the dialog box jumps to the background. For instance, I launch iCad help, and I see it for a split second, then it is in the background. I must click on the program header to bring the box to the foreground. This happens with some but not all commands.
Also, maybe related, maybe not, my status bar (housing the coordinate value, snap setting, model/paperspace etc) is twitching. It looks like the model space box area is increasing and decreasing in size by a couple of characters, but it isn't showing anything, just jumping a little in size, causing the whole status bar to increase/decrease and jump back and fourth.
Driving me nutz. Not sure if these are Carlson, or iCad settings, or if I am having problems with the new computers graphics card.
Running latest build of Carlson and iCad 8
Dell XPS8700 @3.0 Ghz, with 8 gig of ram
Nvidia GForce GT 720 with 1gig of ram, and running the latest drivers.
Any help would be great.
Thanks. -Neil
The "flickering" would seem to indicate a problem with the graphics card. Does not look like a software issue.
Call Dell support and explain the issue to them. I think all the new Dell computers come with at least a 1 year warranty that includes "on site" support. If so, they should send a tech out to put in a new graphics card. He may have to take it to the shop for a day or two. Won't hurt to call and ask.
Dent's advice is best.
But if you are bored, maybe try typing "filedia" at the command prompt. The toggle 0 or 1.
Looks like ICad needed an update. Not sure why it wasn't automatically installed, but getting the latest build from Carlson Tech support seemed to solve the dialog box issue.
We can keep up with ICad here: http://littlecadenginethatcould.blogspot.com/
