I would like some help connecting to my computer. Do I use the 9 pin serial port or the small usb. My active syn is not seeing it. How can I connect it. The collector works great with my instruments, but just does not like connecting to the desk top.
Thanks,
Doug

Which OS are you running? You mentioned ActiveSync, so probably XP?
I had trouble off and on for years with ActiveSync, but the serial cable would always work (until the cable went bad). Carlson has a data collector transfer program:

Bill is right about getting the export program.
Seems like I remember powering up issues.
Hook the stuff up first and then power up the DC.
What you said is true if you still want to use ActiveSync for USB. ActiveSync is wonky and the Carlson program works over the serial, bypassing ActiveSync.
ActiveSync is faster, though, when it works.
If I recall ActiveSync and the export program didn't play well together.
It's been 10 years since I had the stuff so I sure am not certain.
I was on XP Pro back then with a 600+ DC. Pretty awesome at the time.

Doug,
You might have to turn on "PC connection" in the control panel. It might be on the desk top. Its a simple drop down box that you have to tell it to Sync with the serial port.
This is coming from really deep in the memory vault. I could be totally off base. I didn't sell these data collectors just had a few in from time to time...
Thanks to all. We will see
I think some of it depended on who made the COM boards. I've seen some computers never have a problem, while others almost never worked.
The transfer over serial always worked, it was the ActiveSync/USB that could be wonky depending on the machine.
