Ok I have both tools. Civil3D and Carlson cad or Carlson civil Survey. In civil 3d I can go to Annote and go to the profile of storm water lines roads etc. and grab a station and elevation very quickly and easily. This makes checking comps and doing cutsheet design grades for specific stations very easy.

Can I do the same in the Carlson civil survey somehow as I have brought in the dev from civil 3d and do most of the survey work in Carlson. If Carlson has this type thing what is it called and how do I get it to work.

Carlson has online tutorials, that may be your best source of information. As far as stationing, check under the centerline tab.

I have not used Carlsons layout routines as often as I used to lately but creating profiles and putting them on real Z pretty much automates the set up process.

Thanks a bunch. I have begun as time permits looking at some of the tutorials for sure. These designs in this case have been done in civil 3d. So we create a centerline file horizontally only and then they stake it and they comp grades in a cutsheet no markup on the stake but point # and stationing. So I am coming into this after the fact. Trying to relieve my calculator finger a little lol.

No need to manually comp cut sheet grades, when you are working in Carlson, set up the cut sheet template that is Excel driven, in your layout calcs you can either manually enter the design grade or have it generated based on the 3D profile line that your created.

When your cut sheet templet is set up the way that you want it, the cut sheet routine will generate a cut sheet based on the elevation of the stake that you have located after it being set, the design elevation you assigned to your layout point and will provide delta X, Y & Z variants for you to review for blown shots, which rarely happens.

I figured it could do that. However I have to do it the way they have always done it and they have strict rules and processes to follow. TBC is like Carlson in that regards. I could set up my report or stake out or cutsheet and it did everything for you based on the as staked points. But I am sure you understand the whole this is how we always have done it so I am just following orders. I will do this until I figure out the system and understand how they do things then make suggestions later. Nothing gets one in trouble more than the new guy having different ways of doing things. I have seen several things that can help streamline processes but keeping my mouth closed for now.
