I am looking into buying a laptop and wonder if there are known issues of running Carlson standalone 2004 on Windows 7?
Also, what about 32 bit vs 64 bit?
Thanks,
Bill

Hi Bill,

I think you'd be best to call Carlson's tech support crew for an answer to that one. It obviously wasn't designed to run on Win 7, but they can tell you how successful other users have been with it and what kind of issues you may encounter. Plus, it's a free call.

They're number is 606.564.5028.

Hope this helps,

Jennifer

I have just gotten a new computer with Windows 7 Ultimate loaded on it. Several old programs that I had that would not run on Vista run like a champ in Windows 7. It appears to be a more versitile version of Windows when it comes to backward compatability. Window 7 Ultimate can operate in an "XP mode" to run older software.

A couple of weeks ago I bought a new Laptop to replace my old one. It has Win7 64 bit. It ran Carlson 2008 standalone like a champ. The only question I had, and I called Carlson, was to get a new number for my seat since the other laptop had died. We also run PacSOFT on the Win7 laptop, all without the emulator. Win7 appears to be as stout, if not stouter than XP. You should have no problems. Pacsoft is WAY older than Carlson Survey 2004.
