In Carlson 2015 (Standalone) Is there a way to make the default for new MTEXT to have a Background Mask. I see how to change it so that it does, but I want it to default that way. I can't seem to find any setting for such thing.

I can't find a way to do it in full AutoCAD 2016 either and I've yet to find a solution on the help boards at AUGI and Autodesk.

Sorry for the Hijack, but is there a way to mask text through line work but not an underlying photo?

Bring the picture to the front using draw order

I'll allow it. 🙂

I don't believe there is a way to modify the default mtext settings within Autocad. I also don't know if the standalone package supports lisp routines. I will make a suggestion as a workaround. Set up an mtext entity with your desired settings (height, justification, text style, background mask, etc.). For the actual text just plug in a placeholder, such as Chicks dig Bob. Make a block using that mtext entity. Insert it exploded whenever/wherever you need it, and it will keep your settings. If you are so inclined, make as many blocks as needed with different settings.
