Is there a way to have it label the point with both descriptor and elevation?

I am using the prefix command to label the points descriptors and wonder if there is a quicker way?

Thank you,
Dtp

After using Carlson all these years and going to all of those classes, this is the first I have heard of the LABSPOT command! It looks interesting. Have to look into that.
Usually to place a symbol and label the control point number, the northing, easting and elevation as text in my drawing on a layer called "Control" I use the Field To Finish attribute block set up. Run field to finish and they areall done. I don't have to hunt them down and label them. (At my age, that's a BIG plus!)

That LABSPOT routine is found under the 3D Data -> Spot Elevations -> Draw Spot Elevation

You know what? I couldn't find 3d data or the labspot command. I just use labspot and the table pops up. I hadn't heard of it either and it's a great tool! Except I hate the drafting part of my job 🙂

Now if I can make it include the descriptor I'll be a happier man !

I think what you are trying to do would be really easily automated with the field-to-finish. It's too involved to go into here, but I would suggest that you begin to look into it. I use it to automatically add all sorts of attributes in text format, and to draw custom symbols.

Carlson 2014 LABSPOT Command>Plumb Bill

Thanks Bill, I saw something there when I used the Carlson help. I'll check into the F2F a bit more.

I used to use F2F quite a bit but most of my jobs are fairly small, usually less than 50 shots so I got out of the habit. Now it's kind of stale in my noggin.

You must only have the survey module.

What do you get when you issue the "divent" command?

This is found under the 3D Data -> 3D Points -> Interpolate Entity
I'm just curious if there are routines that you have access to that they don't include under the menu items.

To get points labeled with desc. and elevation, I just draw locate points and toggle on those attributes.

OK, you can also use the command "explode_scad" to quickly turn your point blocks in to text entities. Then if you need them at a different scale draw and explode them again.
