I have a project that is eating up much more time than I can afford to spend drafting right now.
It's about 3 miles of back roads, maybe 11 sheets, and several culverts that need to be detailed.
The work is all in Carlson 2014.
Has anyone here outsourced a project like this? Do you have any recommendations?
I am thinking that I need to outsource to get it done more efficiently.
Thanks,
Dtp
I used to outsource a ton of CAD work to guys I went to school with when I got bogged down with projects and it always worked out fine. The first few projects take a lot of QA/QC on your end to make sure everything gets captured, but after you get a feel for each other, it gets better. You just need to find someone you trust will hit your deadlines and cares as much about your clients as you do.
I have now moved onto a firm that has a TON of CAD support so we never run into this anymore. We actually get a lot of CAD work from people in your same situation. I would love to throw my name/contact info into your contacts if you would like some help. Aaron.Michalenko@epsgroupinc.com. Cell # is 602.448.6812. Shoot me a call or email if you need any help. CAD is my forte and I can finish this quickly and accurately.
Thanks in advance!

I use a website called AECNexus. They have freelancers and other companies that can take care of your projects. Whenever work gets slow in the office we look to supplement our time by picking up some projects from there. Check it out 😀 http://www.aecnexus.org/
CAD outsourcing>TTT (update)
Well, last week I posted about out sourcing drafting work. I had worked myself into a bind and was struggling with some facets of CAD that I am not very familiar with and work was piling up.
Because of the winter storms I was about 6 weeks behind on a fairly large project, at least for me. 3 miles of back roads that are in danger of being flooded when the dike is removed at the outlet of the Herring River.
I am not used to working with terrain modeling on this scale so I was getting frustrated.
Well, Aaron responded pretty quickly to my post. I sent him the drawings on Friday (yes, of a holiday weekend) and he returned them to me yesterday, under budget even!
It is such a relief to have a PLS review this, edit it, make the DTM and then provide it multiple formats! Quickly and affordable, and here in the USA! AZ to be specific.
This is a great relief for me, and probably for my client!
Aaron Michalenko at EPS Group is a life saver!
For what it's worth I did have contact with two other folks, one out sources overseas and the other is a west coast CAD person. The west coast CAD was to busy and the over seas contractor was extremely slow in responding. Aaron has been easy to communicate with, responsive to emails and productive!
