Snapping to Point labels after they have been dragged...
I remember in LDD you could "snap node" to the "Point Number" for example, instead of sorting among a cluster of nodes.
It seems this is still possible, but not after the label has been dragged.
Is there a way to "snap node" by picking the label after it has been dragged?
Thanks,
Steve

Not quite sure if I understand what you want here. If I create a point and drag the label away from it I can still get a node snap back to the point location, but only when the cursor is over that part of the label which is attached to the point.
In my test drawing the point is using the OOTB Point#-Elevation-Description label style. In that style the Elevation is tied to the feature, while the other two pieces are tied to the Elevation. As long as the cursor is over the Elevation it snaps to the point node.
The weird part is that it only seems to work with certain parts of the existing label styles. I've been experimenting with adding/removing parts of the label. Some work and some don't. Even when I copy a style that does work and change the label to show what I want it fails.
Ever been to New Orleans? It's sometimes hard to recognise something in drag. Must apply to computers too.
Are you changing the label with a text override? If so, and I may be wrong I think it partially treats it as regular text after that point?
As for node snap and such, if the text is tied to a point and the text block is moved, it should still be tied to that point so I would think that node snap will put it back where it belongs. Do you get a leader when you drag your text off?
I just played with it a bit, to grab the text in the right place are you using insertion snap? Use that then drag it to where the node snaps and Bobs your uncle! (unless I completely missread your question:good: )

No, I am editing the label style to add or remove components.

As I understand it what the original poster was trying to do is drag a point label away from the original location so that it is accessible, and then be able to pick on the point location with the cursor over the label and the node snap running. It appears that it only works for some label styles, and only for certain parts of the text which may be included in the label. 🙁

Thanks for thinking about this and for your suggestions.
Sinc suggested using the transparent command 'PO which is also a button on the rt-hand side with the other transparent commands. If you have a command active, such as "line", you pick that and it works.
Thank you,
Steve
