Yesterday I started getting this error "ARX ERROR: eDuplicateKey" whenever I use the "pasteclip" command to insert items from another drawing that were selected with the "copybase" command.
Currently running AutoCad 2005 with SurvCadd 2006. I have closed out of the drawings and rebooted the computer a couple of times, but still getting the error.
If I hold the escape for about ten seconds, the errror eventually goes away and then "pasteclip" works just fine. It's just the first attempt to paste that kicks out the error. All attempts after work fine, until I use "copybase" to pick something new.
Any ideas?
You might try PURGE-ing and AUDIT-ing both drawings. Repeat the PURGE command with the ALL option until there are no definitions left to delete and repeat the AUDIT command until there are no errors reported.
I'm not sure if it will fix it, but it will at least make sure the drawings are clean and fix any corruption in the drawing and other un-used definitions.

Good advice. Tried it, but still displaying the error with every new pick before it will insert.
Update: It seems to have corrected itself in all but one drawing now. I can live with that, since this site plan is printing out right now for final submission.
If purging and auditing don't solve the problem, then you may need to resort to "repairing" your ACAD install. You can do this from windows control panel...add/remove programs..."change" button on the ACAD app...reinstall/repair...repair errors in my install. Make sure that you have backed up any personal customization files (linetypes, hatches, drawing templates, and prototypes etc.)
This is a good reason for keeping all customization files out of the ACAD directories, after a reinstall then all you have to do is add the appropriate file paths to restore your customization.

thanks, I'll be trying that in the morning. my old autocad has been acting up like that lately too. I thought it was just getting feeble in it's old age.

You may also want to try purging Regapps.
Use -purge to get the command line version of the command. Note - the regular purge command with the dialog box does not have the option to remove the Regapps.
Excellent addendum Steve - I'd forgotten to mention the RegApps option. RegApps is actually the most likely candidate to create his problems.
