So we are upgrading to AutoCAD 2020 and I have noticed our convert to pdf is a little different mainly with all the new settings we haven??t adjusted to the old 2014 we had. So my question is what color or line weight do most use? I E, Red or white for boundary??s? Blue for text??ÿ
we use blue for boundary??s at .60mm
and white for text
There are almost as many CAD standards as there are cads. While it is common to associate color with lineweight is not necessary to do so. You can set lineweights by layer, then set you ctb file to plot linesweights by entity.
Before plotters and CAD draftsman used technical pens of various line thicknesses. They came in sets with a good and pleasing proportion of lineweights. Sets with 0.18, 0.25, 0.35, 0.35, 0.50, 0.70 pens were a common combination. 0.18 is very thin and may not reproduce well, so I use it only very rarely. 0.50 is a medium heavy line. I might use that for right of way line or similar. Something heavier yet (.070) for the external boundary of the project parcel. Lighter weights (0.25, 0.35)?ÿ for interior boundary lines. The 0.25 weight for easement lines.
Leroy fonts are lineweight dependent. Truetype fonts plot the same regardless of lineweight or pen settings.?ÿ?ÿ

I used to use the pen widths that matched the colors from the old leroy pen sets. I'd have to look to see what we use here as I never really draft anymore. I use cad for calcing mostly now.
It's also important to see how linetypes work with a printer/plotter. I have one printer (#1) that prints out lines darker/wider than another #2. To get a crisp final paper drawing I normally send it to printer #2, to get a mylar print I send it to printer #1 but I have to check the lineweights first and sometimes adjust them before plotting.?ÿ
