ok bear with me as this is tough to word properly.
im going to stake out a local sewer so that fibre installers know where to procced with caution.?ÿ ?ÿ
i have created my line work in autocad civil 3d and have my xml file ready to go.
now i realised i do not have the service hookups in my xml.
how would you go about adding a attribute to the line that would differentiate from a tangent to a service line.
i have a few work around ill do to make this work right now but in the future would like to know the best workflow for this.
?ÿ
thanks!!
What field software & hardware will you use for staking?
You say that you do not have service lines - do you mean they are not in the XML, not in the Civil 3D drawing, or missing from both?
XMLs are nice to have when you need stationing, surfaces, profiles, etc, but if the intent is simply to give the installers the horizontal location of the lines, without stationing or any other info, I would simply export a DXF/DWG of the sewer linework, ensuring the service lines are on a different layer.
Most modern field softwares are able to underlay a DXF, and differentiate between the layers by color. Then I would simply look at my map, select the lines to stake them out, and note on the stake whether it is a main or a service line.
im using a leica gs15 and a cs20 running captivate.
i had to manually draw in the entire line from as-build blueprints so i have the service line info so i can create it however i like.
