I have been trying to configure the frequencies for the above radio all day with no luck.
The equipment is an Ashtech Promark 500 unit, Ashtech-U-Link TRX radio, and a bluetooth dongle on my windows 7 pc.
Main issue seems to be communication via the Bluetooth serial port. The setup is that you connect the Promark and the radio like you would in the field then connect to Windows 7 via Bluetooth.Any attempt to connect makes it keep ask for the Bluetooth pass-code though the Promark 500 has a blank pass code. Windows 7 has no way of bypassing this. It insists you input something in the field.
I am rather frustrated by this. Has anyone else ever had such an issue?
Try entering four zeros. Sometimes that will make both pieces of bluetooth equipment happy.
The only way I know how to make it work (I assume you are using the latest version of ConfRadio) is to set a Bluetooth passcode (I use FAST Survey to do it). Then with a passcode set, I can connect with my laptop.
The problem is Windows won't let you connect to anything anymore that does not have a passcode.
If you make the connection with a serial cable to the PM500 head, and the head was last configured as a base, sometimes you need to do a 3-fingered reset to get the head to listen.

Had tried to set the pass code to some thing else and ran into problems with the check-sum.
Is this some random figure or how is it generated and do I even need it? Without the check-sum it would say the unit rejected the new PIN. Will try again tomorrow maybe my eyes had parallax when typing the commands.
Totally refuses to accept this. maybe I will input 0000 as new passcode via command see what happens.
I just had the same issue with a Promark 800.
The BT password had been set to something that I did not know.
Using the manual, and the help of some very nice folks at Spectra Precision support...I was able to change the BT password to none.
It involved using the $PASH commands. Not to hard to do ( like anything) once you know how.
I would suggest you contact support@spectra-precision.com and wind up talking to Phil Stevenson. He will get you straightened out.
