I am working on a topo for a client that has requested that the drawing be plotted at 1/8"=1' scale. I will be using paperspace to draw this up and plot.

I very rarely use these scales, and always have trouble getting the viewports set up just right. What would the zoom factor be when I set up my viewport? I normally use the usual 1/20xp, 1/50xp, etc.

I know this is probably pretty basic stuff, but I just don't use those scales but maybe once a year or so.

Thanks in advance,
Jimmy

I assume you'll be drawing the entities in MSPACE and prepping your title block, notes etc. in PSPACE?

When you create a viewport in PSPACE and select it, there's a pulldown in the properties window at "Standard scale" - which lists, among other scales, 1/8" = 1'-0"

EEZY PEEZY!

(If you don't have the properties window docked somewhere, you should)

Good luck

The 1/8xp should get it as long as you are drawing in engineer units (1 cad unit = 1') vs. arch units (1 cad unit = 1". A scale applied to a test plot is your friend.;-)

Thanks guys. I have never seen the pulldown menu in the properties box before. That is pretty slick.

The scale ended up being 1:8 in the pulldown menu. For some reason the 1/8"=1' was WAY to small. Not sure why, but that is the way it worked in this particular drawing.

Thanks for all the help. I learned something new today!:-D

Stephen,

That is exactly what I did! Great minds think alike.
