I would love to have an app (or windows program for a laptop) that could make nice printable chain of title charts for deed research.
I search the android market and didn't see anything (didn't really expect to).
Does anyone know of anything like this?
I currently just make notes on a legal pad, and this works fine - but I was thinking of something that was a little more robust for when you get in to split conveyances, heirships, etc.
I have been running spreadsheets or lists in CAD for each variation of parcels with a sketch of the shape of the parcel. I have been trying to make time to watch some ESRI parcel fabric nonsense because you can do something in there with this. I have not found a QGIS equivalent.
I just write them out and then type into a word doc when I have to produce a report of any kind.
Maybe some sort of family tree program could be altered to work?
I did google "Title abstractor computer programs" and "title examiner computer programs" and only came up with one that wasn't quite what you're looking for, it was more for a closing settlement.

Same here, google doesn't come up with anything; which usually means it doesn't exist.
I found some free flowchart makers this morning that could work pretty slick, though.
I regularly have to research properties back to the mid 1800's. Researching backwards isn't so much the problem, as when I find a parcel that gets lost & I have to go back to a large patent and start searching out-conveyances forwards. Then they can get to be a bear to keep track of.
I can't quite picture what you are looking for. Can you post a description or sketch of what the display should look like?

But at the top would be current ownder, the next line would be last grantor. If there was a fractional ownership or it was made up of more than one property in the past it would automatically bifurcate.
Also it could easily produce a fly-out for easements, R/Ws, etc.
Maybe it doesn't exist because I'm the only one that wants it and/or thinks this way.
That could maybe work. After the OP I searched for just flowchart apps, there are quite a few to choose from.
