I have Carlson 2010 with Intellicad. Why does multiline text randomly rotate to the nearest degree? I guess I could leave it that way, but it is very annoying that it does it without reason. And why can't I trim polylines out of my property corners? As of right now, I have to draw a new polyline to the symbol/line intersection and then trim it... WTF??

I wish I would have found a way to pay for the AutoCad version of Carlson because the bugs on this Intellicad are farking stupid. It's probably in my settings, but I don't know.

Carl,

Have you downloaded the latest patch for IntelliCAD? It was posted on 7/13. I know there were a lot of problems with MTEXT earlier, but I haven't heard of any for quite a long time.

Also, rather than trimming your boundary lines inside the corner blocks, have you tried using wiped out blocks? Here is a Carlson K-base article on it: Carlson Knowledge Base

If you already have the newest release or continue having problems after applying it, you can call Carlson's tech support group (606-564-5028) or me (919-417-8351). If these are persistent issues, they need to hear about it.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Jennifer,
I do believe that I have the latest release. And I'm sure after our previous discussions that it is probably USER error... but some of the stuff is ridiculous. Any chance you will be going through my area sometime soon?

Maybe we can just get together for an online meeting/training... That way we can record it and you'll have it to reference. Send me an email and let me know what your time looks like early next week.

Will do. I'll make a list of my problems. I'm having internet issues when it rains, so I may have to take that into account.

Thanks so much!!

Don't know that Carlson has a fix for rain causing MTEXT to slightly rotate, but we'll give it a shot 😉

I'll wait to hear from you...

Andy, you know me... I'm calling Verizon to stop the rain.

The only problem there is that you are only purging that instance of rain. Unfortunately, certain circumstances in your overall settings will cause rain to reoccur. You may want to try disabling the verizon plugin indefinitely, or at least until the problem is resolved. You may also be able to find a plugin with similar features to verizon that you could use instead. That may depend, however, on whether you have any dealers of alternate plugins in your area.

my bad, I thought the .* would take care of all the clouds in the vicinity. I'll send that back to the programming dungeon.

wipeouts are the way to go. You can use the wipeout entity but it requires straight lines only (no curves allowed). You make a closed polyline then turn it into a wipeout. The other way I've handled it is make a solid fill in Color 255 then have Color 255 plot at 1% screen which in effect is the same as a wipeout. You may have to play with the display order to keep from wiping out things you want.

my open monument symbols have a wipeout that blots out the line behind the symbol so you can keep the lines at their true length.
