Recently there was a thread where the discussion turned to how do you make the new Acrobat DC not the default pdf opener. I found it!

Open your Acrobat Pro version and go to edit preferences, under general, down at the bottom of the page, choose your default pdf handler.

In Acrobat DC, the only choice is its self, so you have to do it in the Pro version for it to stick.

Vern, why would you want to have two Adobe products on your PC? Why not only Adobe Pro?

Because...........................That's the way we've always done it????????

It was never an issue until this new reader came out. If I wanted to just view a pdf I would use the reader, if I wanted to compile or edit in some way I would use pro. They were similar enough that it was pretty much seamless, there should be a feature in the reader that you can switch to pro if needed.

LOL, I have three versions. Reader is locked into the browsers, I keep 5 around because I like the way it handles some documents and then I have version 10 for 3D and the bulk of the work. New versions only mean new versions, they certainly don't always mean an upgrade. I haven't had any "new" Adobe created issues though, just the ole' standbys
