Does anyone have a linetype for asphalt? Obviously, this would be sort of like a devil's pitchfork on an angle from the main line itself. Thanks.

Couldn't you just offset the lines really close, then use an angled hatch between them and then erase the inside (offset) line.

Other than that, I'm not quite picturing your request.:-/

We use a linetype like this for the edge of pavement.

-------EP-------EP------- (except the dashed line is really solid)

Rob,

I gotta run, I'll try to post a pic of what I'm talking about. No disrespect, although we all all know what EP stands for, that linetype looks like a utility line. :-S

I have one that should do what you need. Send me an email and I'll reply with it in the morning.

I use normal lines for the edge and hatch the area inside. I think it makes for better contrast to the map.

Carlson has an asphalt like hatch similar to what you're describing.

Connect all of your pavement lines into one polyline. Create a block for the ep symbol and use the measure command to place the block along the line. Works really well. I have blocks if you want to try it that way.

Yeah, I've heard of it done that way. However, I use Field-to-Finish, and if it can draw the linetype from the code, then that's something else I don't have to do.

Kris,

I hear ya. I think that method can look good too, but I guess I'm too old school and used to years of hand drafting using the linetype I describe. Also, there are alot of symbols (right turn, left turn, striping, buttons, utilities) within this asphalt area that hatching might make too busy. I like a clean, more sparse approach.

Did one of those linetypes work for you?
