As I posted earlier this week we did a survey in a power unit.

now that the CAD labor is done in Microstation we made a plot to what we call a dynamic pdf.

You can view the results in 3D from all angles ...

Download 3D Power Unit pdf 80kb

Looks good, I could not get the PDF to view on an ipad, but will try it on a pc.

I have found with shooting reflectorless shots that sit above or below each other, such as multiple building levels, the map view of the tsc 2 gets so cluttered as all the points are falling on top of each other it is very difficult to manage, I have found using separate codes for separate levels helps or just shoot each level on a different job file, draw them separately and then xref them all together seems to work.

I suppose drawing the plan in a proper 3 d cad program will make it easier, how many shots did you take to compile this ?

About 1400 points on the ground for roads, paths, buildings and foundations,
another 400 reflector-less points.

You're right about the cluttered map on the TSC2, for buildings we use the simple trick with the point range: 0-999 = ground floor
1st floor from 1000 ...
2nd floor from 2000 ...
but can't go negative for the basements, negative point numbers means point without elevation in our software.

Did you process your survey data with ImRoads, GeoPak, or other software?

Steve,

these days we only use Microstation for one client, 20 years ago we only used Microstation.
Processing the data is done in the old Fieldworks II, the predecessor of Inroads Survey.
Still love this software very much ... We'll have a look at upgrading (PowerSurvey) when switching to Win7

Chr.
