Quote from Don McLarty on Jim Stynes who passed away 20 March 2012. "He said to me having cancer was a privilege. He said he had worked with many young people who had been in life threatening situations, and he never really knew how they felt. He believed having cancer would help him understand what those young people were experiencing, and make him a much better person to help them. Cancer a privilege - it takes a special person to consider that."

Jim was a legend in Australian Football who came from Ireland to play a game he had never seen before and went on to reach the pinnacle of the sport. He is also revered for his work with disadvantaged kids through the Reach Foundation. In 2008 he became President of the Melbourne Football Club and saved it from extinction.

A truly remarkable man.

A level of spiritual development which we ( I ) (me) have yet to attain.

Don

He was not well known outside of Australia and Ireland although he was known among the world sporting elite.

One of the early tributes on facebook came from cycling champion Lance Armstrong and another from NBA star Andrew Bogut.

Cheers

Graham
