I got this from a SAMSOG e-mail:

Frank was killed in an auto accident while surveying. Y'all be careful out there.

Sorry to hear about Frank. This brings home the fact that more Surveyors are killed by vehicles. Not snakes, wild hogs, irate property owners, bears or anything else. (not sure about bee stings). I always instructed crews to setup as far from the travel lanes as possible, use reflectorless whenever possible and look out for each other. The best precaution is to be where the cars are not. Even with all the precautions, all it takes is for the vehicle and the Surveyor to be in the same place at the same time. Frank was no rookie and this is probably just a case of bad luck. Please pass on this incident to all your coworkers. We just cannot be too careful.
