Sad day.
Obituary
I met Art several times throughout the years. He was always a pleasure to talk with. My condolences to his family and friends.

Art has been a mentor to many. I am very thankful to have known him as he always had TIME to listen to questions and discuss surveying. He will be missed by many and has left a positive impact on many Surveyors.
Damn,
Another one gone. I enjoyed my brief association with Mr. Osborn.
When the equipment I learned on is now in the antique section of ebay, I feel I am closer to me "closing line" than I am to my "point of beginning".
Godspeed Mr. Osborn.
Although I have never met him, his name is legendary.
Sad day indeed.

Sad to hear. He was very nice and helpful when I was trying to get registered.
I met him a few times, he always seemed to be a genuinely nice guy. For all of his history in the TBPLS and TSA/TSPS, he never struck me as arrogant or condescending. He easily could have flaunted it, but to my knowledge never did and was always very approachable.
There were not many survey meetings that I was present that Art was not in attendance or had passed on a message to everyone and he attended more than I by far.
When asked upon Art always had something important and current to add, even after nearly everyone had their word and what he said was always to the point and came from the heart.
I will never forget the man, his big as Texas smile, his handshake and his contributions to surveying.

There were a few public forums, TSPS meetings, conventions, and seminars, where I saw Art. Several surveyors
responded to the speaker's question, but Art would just sit back and listen like a wise old attorney gathering
information. Some people knew Art knew the answer but Art would remain silent until everyone responded.
Then he would give the answer to the question and the exceptions to the main question.
Art was a dedicated surveyor who had the respect of his piers!!!
