Anyone know if GoPro Karma with Hero 6 black is similarly viable for surveyors as the DJI Phantom 4 Plus?

There is now a correction model in Pix4D for cameras with rolling shutters so I presume you could get good results with a GoPro.

Thanks. We were/are considering it, as we also need replacement underwater camera equipment, so a GoPro Karma drone with Hero 6 camera seems like a good idea to cover both air and underwater. Except the Hero being a fixed fish eye lens apparently doesn't rate too well for general photography and it is only 12MP. Whereas the DJI P4 is 20MP (and now mechanical shutter), although it is a dedicated drone camera.

There isn't likely one tool that can do everything well. If you look at cameras with rolling shutters and lower megapixels there is a diminished level of accuracy with distortion and software matching GCPs. Depending on what you intend to produce perhaps a multi purpose camera will work. I think starting with higher megapixels and a mechanical shutter is a better route to go, ?ÿbut I see your point about getting double duty from a camera...
