And given the tree canopy, I can't see how it would even work in my community. Sure they look cool and the images are incredible, but as a business owner, how do I make money off that?

Any drone with a go pro will have issues since it has a fish eye lense. That will introduce distortion in the photos. In some cases, the processing software can adjust but why start with bad data?

To answer the OP's question, you will be better suited with 3G or other cell connection in the tablet. Typically, the drone will have on board storage. That will then be transferred to the tablet. If the tablet is connected via 3G, data can be uploaded to the cloud. Office work can then be done once uploaded. In some cases, the processing is done via a cloud service anyway, further improving efficiency while you move on the another site or even call it a day. Without 3G, none of that is possible, everything waits for you to get back to your office to transfer data. I suppose you could use a mifi in the truck. That way data from the drone as well as from the data collector can be transferred...
