After upgrading from Win10 64 ver. 1703 to ver. 1709, Acad 2006 crashes when I try to open a 2nd drawing file. MS support says, "too bad, so sad, buy new Autocad",
but I don't want to do that, obviously. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
SS
need some info, ie.. same acad session? open 2nd drawing first, works? etc...
will help all trouble shoot if you can give more info.
Start Acad, (Actually Carlson Civil Suite 2012 in Acad 2006), File>Open.. Survey 123.dwg. Then: File>Open.....and that's as far as it gets before Unhandled Exception Error Dialog and Acad shuts down. Doesn't matter what dwg, of several thosand, is first, it only allows one open dwg.
I'm still using LDD2006 on win 10 with whatever version Microsoft has decided to install, and this solved everything. Don't know about Carlson though, never used it.

This simple solution would seem to roll back to a previous version of Windows.

Actually, i'd already done that prior to making the OP.......but thanks, anyway.

Maybe this relating to graphics:
Have you got all the service packs and hotfixes installed for AutoCAD 2006.
We use AutoCAD Civil 3D 2015 and while on the whole it is great with Win 10, recent OS updates have generated a couple of issues, like F8 ortho on/off freezing (although Autodesk have put out a workaround fix to that).
Happy again. Bitched to MS about this issue, and voila, latest update did not break Acad 2006 - at least as far as my OP is concerned......
