Looks like OKC has a bullseye on them today with a 80-90% chance of large long track tornadoes today. Y'all stay safe and better head in early.?ÿ

Ironically, today is the 6th anniversary of the terrible EF5 Moore, OK tornado.

It was just covered on the local news in Orlando. I hope Cash and Cow make it through. I'll take a Hurricane any day over the tornado's y'all have. Do you guy's in these zones have home shelters, ie: cellars, to hide in? I'd dig a hole and place a 55 gallon drum in it and then jump in that when needed. I can fit in a 55 gallon drum with a radio and a 12 pack. Haven't figgered out restroom facilities yet. Of course, after 12 beers, where you pee ain't really a big deal. ?????ÿ

Tornados vs hurricanes??ÿ Most people in tornado alley live all their lives and not get hit.?ÿ Only a miniscule percent of the population has serious damage in any year.?ÿ Hurricanes come often and affect everybody in the area every time.

In Central Oklahoma they've closed schools and some businesses in anticipation of the apocalyptic onslaught and doom of?ÿ large 'naderzillas.?ÿ On one hand there is nothing wrong with being aware of what's going on...on the other hand the weather "authorities" have whipped the general population into a fear driven frenzy.

The ingredients for bad weather are all in place.?ÿ These "perfect storm" conditions have occurred only a handful of times in the last twenty years.?ÿ Almost invariably an outbreak of tornadic activity occurs with these conditions.?ÿ The local news has interviewed several residents of Moore, OK that are planning to leave the area.?ÿ

We use to call these conditions "spring thunderstorms".?ÿ I myself have survived at least two tornados in my lifetime.?ÿ The last one was 2011 I believe.?ÿ It passed 300 yards south of the house and nailed the city park.?ÿ I got a new roof out of the deal.

Let's hope this is much ado about nothing.?ÿ I'm sure we'll all bet some big hail and the usually trash-can-dumping sideways 80 mph winds.?ÿ Tomorrow morning we'll all be out looking in our neighbors' yards for our patio furniture.... 😉

What has been happening thru winter and spring thru Texas has found its way north of the Red River.

Have had a power outage to report most every week, will see how this week goes.

Everything around here is saturated to where I still can not mow some parts of my yard.

This last weekend my red healer caught a plate sized turtle in the road ditch.

All I've found of it yesterday was about 2/3 of its belly pan.

Got up about 4 AM and went outside with the dogs.?ÿ There was a break in the storms luckily.?ÿ Just as I came inside and started making some coffee the sirens began to wail.?ÿ I could hear approx. 70 mph winds with the rain hitting the east side of the house first, then the north side and then finally the west side.?ÿ It wrapped up and took off NE with the sirens still wailing.?ÿ The wind died within a few minutes.?ÿ Helluva way to wake up.

When the sun comes up I'll go look for my trash bins...

Glad you're alright. We had a good line blast through about 2:30, no dogs to deal with, but all the kids woke up. The big line of storms is due to march up 44 and hit StL about dinner time and when the puck is due to drop for a big Blues game...should be interesting.

"Only a miniscule percent of the population has serious damage in any year."

I understand that, however, since I am living proof of "Murphys Law" I'll stick with Hurricanes.?ÿ ?????ÿ

I'll stick with the twisters, thank you.?ÿ They seem to get their business done quickly and then they're gone!

I use to work with a fella from Los Angeles.?ÿ?ÿHe had apparently weathered several large earthquakes in his lifetime but was deathly afraid of tornados.?ÿ Instead of a regular work station he latched on to one of the older large steel drafting tables at the office...said he wanted something big to get under in case of catastrophe. To each his own.?ÿ?ÿ;)

Most Kansans roll over and go back to sleep after hitting the "shut up" button on the radio when the tornado warning alarm goes off. ?ÿThey will find my body a half mile from my bed if that tiny percent chance ever hits my home at night. ?ÿIf it is daylight, I will probably be driving perpendicular to the most likely path of the tornado. ?ÿFar enough to be missed, but close enough to see where it goes.

Please note: NO official agencies recommend either practice.

"You know youƒ??re from Kansas when there are Tornados to the North and South of you but you still play ball!"

That is the caption of the fourth Facebook message to come up just now as I switched gears from following beerleg. ?ÿThe picture shows a game of co-ed slow pitch softball being played under the lights at my wife's school.

The warnings have ran down the battery on my cell phone over the last couple of days.?ÿ They are annoying.

Folks use to enjoy a "spring thundershower" this time of year.?ÿ Some had a little wind, some had some hail.?ÿ We can't enjoy them anymore.?ÿ The fool weather announcers have way too much invested in their radar.?ÿ Anytime there is ANY circulation in a t-storm they blow their horn.?ÿ I'm waiting for someone to realize there is a lot circulation in all thunderstorms, tornadic or not.?ÿ

Much ado about something that's been around since the beginning of time.

PS - Holy Cow, how's Mrs. Cow doing these days?

More info from Facebook. ?ÿOne tornado missed my oldest daughter's house by only a couple of miles this evening. ?ÿYoungest daughter was maybe 10-12 miles from a big one that had to be headed toward my other daughter's house. ?ÿJust another day/evening in Tornado Alley.

Better, but not healed. ?ÿDamn petermonia is refusing to leave. ?ÿHeaded to KU Med in KC,KS on Friday to prep for a bronchoscopy to go in and look at the crud that does not want to leave her lung. ?ÿThis is roughly week #10 of the battle.

Thanks for asking.

We get an ef1 every few years. I remember one complete with breathless reporting from the helicopter...it knocked a gutter off a house and stripped some roofing from a shed LOL.

bup bup bup THE CARNAGE OUT HERE IS TERRIBLE BILL, I CAN SEE THE PLYWOOD ON THE ROOF OF THE SHED, 2 LAWN CHAIRS IN THE STREET AND THE GUTTER ON THE FRONT LAWN OF THAT HOUSE bup bup bup

An EF1 compares to a normal day in much of the Great Plains. ?ÿSoon The Wheat State will have more acres of industrial wind turbines cranking out electricity than acres of wheat.
