Last Thursday around noon I met with the buyer on a tract we are surveying for the current owner. The conversation wandered away from the issue at hand several times. I discovered where this fellow had attended grade school. I said, "I bet you had Mr. Tredway as your teacher in 6th Grade." He confirmed that to be true and that his kids had also had him as a teacher. I informed him that I grew up across the road from Mr. Tredway's boyhood home and owned it today. He said he hadn't thought about him in several years and asked me if I knew whether he was still alive. I confirmed his existence and stated that he would turn 80 sometime this year.
I WAS WRONG. Discovered in the Friday paper that he had died on Wednesday.
I don't know if there are any "weird" coincidences...
ELAINE: No, no.. but it is quite a coincidence.
RAVA: Yes, that’s all, a coincidence!
ELAINE: A big coincidence.
RAVA: Not a big coincidence. A coincidence!
ELAINE: No, that’s a big coincidence.
RAVA: That’s what a coincidence is! There are no small coincidences and big coincidences!
ELAINE: No, there are degrees of coincidences.
RAVA: No, there are only coincidences! ..Ask anyone!
(If you're a Seinfeld fan, you'll know this)
I do not remember that segment at all. But, then, Seinfeld was absolutely crammed full of bizarre little conversations such as that.
Remember........IT'S A SHOW ABOUT NOTHING!
About a year ago, I found an old Party Chief on FB, I worked for him almost 30 years ago, hadn't talked to him since mid 1980's. We briefly caught up, then talked about getting together after he returned from a trip he was taking (he had recently retired and was traveling).
A few weeks ago, a reminder popped up that it was his birthday. I went to wish him Happy Birthday..... he had passed on about a month earlier....
