Got some advice from a few here, mainly Perry Williams, on a good spot to spend Christmas in the northeast. We ended up going to Okemo in southern Vermont over Christmas. Early winter was rough up that way on the ski resorts, I guess we got lucky. Okemo has 119 trails, and the ability to make snow on 90% of them. Rode the lift up with one of the managers, he said the unusually warm weather was the main problem, but they had enough cold weather the week before we went to get about 30 trails open. Here's a few pics.

This was the view out our condo back door. Not a very good picture. Unfortunately, this lift wasn't running.

This was the view Christmas morning. Could hear the snow makers and groomers running at night.

Steph, Jamie, Carol, Me, Mandy.

Had a great time, good way to spend Christmas. Hopefully do it again sometime.

Hard to see in that picture, but I've got a black eye and busted lip. Christmas Eve crash, knocked me out, not sure what happened, but I think there's a clue in the 12/24 picture at this address.

glad you had fun. Certainly is a tough year here in New England for skiing. I haven't even put skiis on yet this year.

Actually, I have no memory of it for about 10 minutes or so. Ended up at the hospital with a concussion. I'm thinking I probably got clipped from behind, as apparently I never even got my hands down to break the fall, absolute faceplant. Remember getting off the lift and getting most of the way down, next thing I knew there were 4 ski patrol guys asking me questions. So I'm sticking with the Yeti story until proven wrong. Had been skiing for a couple of hours with nothing even close to a fall up to that point.

Hey Hey Hey, stop posting all this skiing stuff WITH PHOTOS! You see, some of us are sensitive, and really wish that OBAMA and his wrecking crew had not blown the economy, and that I had gotten to go skiing!!!

(Glad you had fun!)

you just hit a tiny bit of jealousy!

🙂

Another thing to consider when making a choice of slopes to go to is their EMT service. We just had a Canadian family find out the hard way that the quality of care can be extremely low. This event happened at Sugarloaf, Maine.
