Okay, I am working out of town, and guess what, I left my usb to serial download cable at the office. I have to run to Nashville tomorrow for a meeting, and will then be heading back ot the small town where I am working to finish up the survey.

I tried two different USB to serial converters without luck. I have one connected to my semi-retired desktop that I rarely use, but I do not know the brand. I have another one that I bought from Hayes Instruments a few years ago that works flawlessly. I do not recall the brand.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I will try to stop by an office supply store tomorrow on my way back from my meeting to pick one up so I can download some data from my gps receivers to get a pair of OPUS solutions.

I guess I could stop by Hayes on the way back, but they are about 50 miles or so out of the way, maybe more.

Thanks in advance,
Jimmy

I think the older ones don't have updated drivers that work with Windows 7 & 8. Any new one that shows support for the new operating systems should work. I got mine on eBay for about $5 after having similar issues with an older model.

I have one of these.
Works flawlessly.
Win 7 pro, 64 bit.
You may have to find out which USB port it's using.

I have recently purchased 2 from Staples and they work flawlessly with our Trimble GPS units. This is with Windows 7.

I've used one from Staples on the Win7 machines at the office that works well with an older Carlson DC.

Thanks everyone. I took a chance and tried the one from Staples. The website had it listed at $18 and some change. The in store price was $43 and some change. I asked them about it, and they price matched.

I went straight out to the truck, and installed the drivers, and downloaded the receivers, turned on the hotspot, and uploaded to OPUS. I had the results waiting on me when I got back to the hotel. It was nice. This one will stay in the box with the receivers so I don't accidentally leave home without it.

Thanks again, I appreciate it.
