Spent nearly 10 hours (Including a few water breaks ) hand digging and prepping for the next phase which is 20 post holes for a pile retaining wall.?ÿ Major PITA which the neighbors threw up this crap plastic home Depot fence which doesn't really work as a retaining wall as you can see the bowed bottom rails.

SWMBOAWD did about 40% of the digging, which was also double thrown dirt to wheel barrel because there's nowhere for the stock pile in the back once we cut the wall and yeah....?ÿ

all 5 of the contractors that wooed her with landscaping dreams never called back because they're fat lazy and overpriced. And definitely couldn't fit even a micro excavator past the AC condenser safely so screw them.

?ÿ

She'll be excoriating them online with no names but just a random call out to the general public so they know what to expect for the future.

60'x1.5x2 to 2.5 as it varies.

?ÿ

last fence I'll even consider with hand tools.

?ÿ

ibuprofen is on board, makers mark 46 will be my last thought as I'll be drifting off to sleep tonight.

?ÿ

just glad at my plus 50s I'm still able to hard dig and move dirt in 95?øF and just chug along...

?ÿ

And the AC is cranking now for the win.

?ÿ

I wanted to “thumbs down” this one, just because I am allergic to real actual work.  This looks and sounds like W O R K.

Way to go, kiddos!

Well done.

@brad-ott

understandable.

Surprisingly, not sore at all, slightly tired as I moved nearly 10 tons of material, so win win for the day.

post holes and concrete today then back filled tomorrow

What do you think rodmen are for?

Good night man. Rent a mini excavator next time.  It took me about a 50 brace post for cattle fencing digging by hand and mixing concrete in a wheel barrel before I learned my lesson. Now i auger them all brace them up and run through pouring concrete. . I have about 2 miles left but waiting on the new land owner to make his mind up if i can run cattle on that piece or he is going to let row cropper lease.

@olemanriver

see that AC condenser in the photo?

that's what the contractors saw and knew they'd have to dig by hand too

its all good.

I always stay in full digging day shape.

yeah sometimes I reckon you just have to get in and get er done. I cleared some land here at the house and was digging stumps and had the utility line marked. I had to dig a few by hand because I didn’t want to cut my power underground. I even had the random friendly out of town person call the fire department and made us famous on that facebook thing.  Said my house was on fire. Burn pile was a good 1000’ from house. Had a burn permit and when fire department called I said no issues here . It cost me a little though. Because they sent out the trucks.  Work work work.

@jitterboogie hey now. Rodman were still being hired after GPS and Robots. I am trying to hire one now.  I guess we should change the terminology now days. But i need a couple good bucket toters and tote equipment mules for my chiefs. I man is what the boss wanted but i was like what is a i man these days. The crew chief runs everything.  At my part time job I requested they hire me a eye man not I man. Because i was tired of tripping over everything with my readers on to read the data collector screen and trying to walk as well. I had just got the eye magnifying glasses and had a time getting use to them. I felt like i had two left feet. Now not very often i go out but i tell the crew chief what i want or i just become his bucket toter and say what do you want me to do. I gave my youngest chief a hard time this past week. I was constantly running to him asking what’s next how do i do whatever he wanted. Even the little things like where do you keep the hammer.  Lol. He was like you and XXX are just alike referring to my oldest chief who is also a LS we had some of the same types of bosses so everything in a truck has its place. I am like its your truck your equipment you need to have your system down. Wait until he gets some green rodman and has to drive back to a site because he left a machete or hammer on site.  Oh I remember those days well.

That would be a good topic. How to train up a new chief when utilizing robots and rtk.

@flga-2-2

as in the photo seen....a$$hat installed his poorly constructed fence sans permit and no survey...

and guess what I haven't seen or found yet.....not one of the original fence posts that were there prior....

essentially no room to auger the holes.

would have been a great weekend except for the brute force work....

I'll trade problems with you: I had a damn water pipe in my house bust at 8:30pm Sunday night. It's lots of fun now with 10 highspeed fans blowing 20 years worth of dust everwhere. I'm going to stay inebriated until August.
