Yes, he was heading East toward Dryden, Texas and so was obligingly casting interesting shadows. Not all Cascabeles are so considerate of the photographer.
It may well be that he had seen the 8 ft. game fence that a client of mine had built miles and miles of and had decided that the country was just getting too well settled for the wild things. Either that or it was the llamas. I don't know.
I do know that if I were walking across country, some of those fences would be a major pain to climb. I don't fancy climbing them in daylight, much less at night.
(Note the 1/2" x 48" PVC irrigation pipe lath that got knocked over when the blade operator scraped off the line before the fence was built, but left the spike in place that actually marked the line.)
Natura nihil frustra facit
Collige, virgo, rosas.
Cripes you guys why all the ÛÏforeign languageÛ?
ie: Cascabeles, Natura nihil frustra facit, Collige, virgo, rosas.
I realize the above participating respondents are obviously well educated (some overly so) but we am surveyors and have to spend 45 minutes Googleing these foreign phrases. On second thought that may be a good thing because we are forced to learn!
@Kent McMillan How much does the fencing shown cost per mile? "8 ft. game fence that a client of mine had built miles and miles of", I suspect it ain't cheap.

I think the cost of building that fence is around $25k per mile in that country, which seems pretty cheap to me. As for cascabeles, that is the Spanish word for jingle bells and rattlesnakes, which is a very apt description of the sound the larger ones make when revved up.
Oh look, the flower had a long tail! Don't pick that one!
That's one bouquet,
that could ruin your day.
Not sure of Latin equivalent.
Maybe...
Manere off meus gramina!
Stay off my lawn!
I was doing some serious looking around late this afternoon for such legless critters. On my own property!
The dozer had been ripping and tearing and doing all sorts of nice things from my point of view but those are very disturbing to the home life of such critters. I knew if I saw one, it would not be a happy encounter. Fortunately, I saw no legless critters, with or without jingle bells.
