Seth MacFarlane thinks he is Mel Brooks

Mel Brooks changed the Western movie forever with the campfire/bean eating scene, the railroad gang singing about Camptown Ladies, the sheriff of another color and riding off into the sunset in a limousine.

Seth MacFarlane of Family Guy and The Cleveland Show fame has tried to reinvent Westerns even further. Pre-pubescent fellows will think A Million Ways to Die in the West is the funniest movie of all time. Staid old ladies will get a serious wakeup call. Can you say "nasty"? Bizarre scenes such as the one with Gilbert Gottfried pretending to be Abraham Lincoln giving a commencement speech are added to further confuse the viewer. Add in a ton of dialogue that makes absolutely no sense such as, "Dad went up the hill to bury himself next to Mom." All in all it is recommended that the movie viewer consume substantial quantities of mind altering liquids or other substances prior to entering the cinemaplex. You will laugh uproariously, then look around in hopes that no one noticed you doing so. And, for what it's worth, the attempt at showing male sheep genitalia does not conform to official textbooks on such subjects.

I want to know what happened to the good, clean humor. I mean, I'm all for some occasional sexual humor, but why do the new comedies have to use 99% sexual humor? Is it because they are lazy and it's just too easy? Most new comedies are downright revolting. I'm only 47 but take me back to the Don Rickles era. Yes, I'm old-fashioned in a lot of ways.

In the trailer, I suspect that the couple of clean scenes are probably the only ones suitable for general viewing. I got a particular laugh out of the one where he is shooting at tin cans on a fence from a distance, keeps getting closer and closer until he's holding the gun within a few inches of a can and still misses.

Call me a snot nosed kid (46) but give me Seth Mcfarlane over Don Rickles any day of the week.

I prefer fart jokes and other vintage low brow humor... Monty Python style.

There is at least one fart joke.

While discussing the fact that there are a million ways to die in The West he mentions that "their farts can kill'em". At another table in the saloon there are three guys eating bowls of beans. One gets up, staggers a bit, farts and falls dead to the floor hitting the table just right in the process to completely flip it.
