They have put the small craft on the Comet! Simply amazing.
Pretty amazing to be able to hit a target that small!!
That small at that range...
Awesome!!!!
I'm glad you posted about it. I haven't heard any news about it today.
I heard it likened to landing a pin-head on another pin-head going 84000 MPH.
I hope they can get some pics. That'll be super-awesome!
Hayabusa landed took a sample and came back
In 2005 the Japanese Hayabusa mission landed on an asteroid, took a sample, and came back to earth in 2010 after a 7 year mission. All exciting stuff!

But that was asteroid like you said.
There's been several asteroid landings. Not a comet.
Closest we did was the Stardust mission where they flew through the tail and collected material and came back.
Up until the other day, I don't think there's been any attempts to actually land on a comet.
What I find cool and amazing is that Philae's mother ship Rosetta is orbiting the comet. That's pretty amazing given comets' super small micro-gravity environments. I imagine so small you could hit a basketball with a putter and put it in orbit. For that matter, the recoil to the golfer might put him in orbit as well. :-O
