Oldest daughter stayed at the house this summer when Bec and I headed to Nome for the season (7 months + this time) Put her on the vehicle insurance, full carte blanc to use the truck or the car. Got a call, "Dad, I was parking the truck and heard something go clank and now there's some kinda rod hanging under the front end of the truck" I think to myself, gotta be a tie rod, "Don't drive the truck any more, babe" Get back, sure enough, tie rod. Thank goodness it fell off in the driveway and not on the highway, already buried one daughter, don't need another 🙁

Anyhoots, just got it back from the shop, $815 just to fix the broken one. (inner and outter), apparently the drivers side is fine. Now to go put $900 worth of tires on it. Plus, the mechanic says I need new shocks! SIGH! Ow well, IT IS WHAT IT IS.

Just money JD. Your loved ones are safe. Consider this:

One of my co-workers grandson was the infant sleeping in its crib that was hit in the head by a bullet early this morning that was discharged from the gun of the next door condo owner who is an Anchorage Cop that supposedly was "disarming" his weapon. Tragic.

Well, the plumber just left my house to allow my 23 yr old non working hot water heater to drain, while he goes and picks up the replacement. On Sat I heard the big thud of the rusted part falling, then a couple hours later - no hot water and it was kinda leaking.

I looked at trying to do it myself and know that I could, but between the old pipes, old gas connections, getting the new one, disposal of the old one, yadda yadda - I just bit the $600 bullet. As we always tell our clients - hire a professional.

Now I just need me a sweet little lot survey to pay for it. 😉

Unfortunately, they say these things come in threes....

Happened 4-1/2 years ago, still pretty hard on Bec and I. Whoever said "this too shall pass" is full of $__t! Yeah, just happy as a clam that Jennifer made it home without incident.

Northern, from what I read in the paper the child was the cops son, and the neighbor was showing the weapon off to a friend when it went off. I always point them at the floor (unless I am upstairs!) or at the fridge or range. These types of accidents are all too common, what with the lack of common sense these days! Sounds like the kid is going to pull thru, which is a blessing! :good: 🙂

Agreed. You and Bec are rightfully entitled to feel EXACTLY how you do and as however long as you want and need; there is no "time limit" on your feelings. Whoever tries to tell you anything different because of how "they" think you two should feel or be moving on, or over it, or it shall pass, blah blah... (or whatever other crap), can stuff it. 😐
No parent should ever have to go through what you two have...does not matter how it happens or their age; their still our babies. :girl: :boy:
Sending you and Bec bunches of warm hugs and hot cocoa...could always send you a koozie too. 🙂

your right on the cop relationship JD. But the baby is a grandchild of a co-worker here. Sounds like they are going to make it. Not trying to diminish your sorrow, your and your wifes loss is huge.

Well, kinda leaking is better than a fully fledged goopy flood. 🙂

Haven't you learned by now that surveyors are either masters of hyperbole or of understatement?

I would bet an a full fledged leak.
