This week my phone has been ringing off the hook and most of the people are totally clueless. I truly did not think there were so many people who were so ignorant and had no concept at all about the time, effort and cost to do what we do.

I don't miss having an office with an advertised phone number.?ÿ If I could have charged for all the time I wasted on the phone with numbskulls I would have retired 5 years earlier.?ÿ Talking with the general population can drastically reduce your faith in humanity.
My favorite was the guy who sold the south half of a piece of property some years back and had prepared the description himself.?ÿ A recent survey showed he had inadvertently places the property line 5' inside his barn and shop building.?ÿ He wanted me to prepare a corrected deed so he could?ÿget it filed before the owner to the south realized the 4 or 5 year old mistake...I tried to tell him things really didn't work that way...all he could say?ÿwas, "I don't see why not".?ÿ
That was?ÿa half hour of my life I'll never get back.
Many people want for me to look up their property online, download their deeds and get all their information instead of supplying it or doing their own legwork at their expense just to give them a quote.
They also hangup before I have finished going over my checklist of what I am going to need before giving a quote.?ÿ
I will throw numbers at them and then ask if they want to hire me to send me an email in some proper form asking me to work for them and what they want a survey for, etc. and I will get started.
If I can't pull it up on my computer screen while we are talking I'm not spending time when I have billable time waiting for me.
Just as you wish to look it up online, today's client also want the same. Therefore I find it works best when I get calls for a quote, to send them to my website to fill out the online request form.
